Thornhill Sewer System Expansion Master Plan

The Regional District is preparing a Sewer Master Plan for Thornhill. This project will review the existing sewer system and develop a plan for the next several decades, so that the system can accommodate additional users including existing residents and businesses as well as future development.

Completion of a Sewer Master Plan is a key part of implementing the new Thornhill Official Community Plan (OCP), adopted in 2020. As part of this work, two additional and related projects are underway concurrent with the Sewer Master Plan, including an update to the 1983 Zoning Bylaw and an update to the 1983 Subdivision and Development Control Bylaw.

The Sewer Master Plan is being led by the Works & Services department with support from consulting firm Tetra Tech. The process consists of five stages of work and is scheduled for completion in early 2023.
